Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is WCAE a legitimate, responsible and ethical breeder?
Yes, absolutely!
We work very hard caring for our dogs and each pup and work equally as hard to convey pertinent and useful information on our website. Further, we are not affiliated with any other breeder although we do utilize stud services. Please check out our new Dangers of Puppy Mills and Scammers page to help avoid getting ripped off by inhumane breeders and scammers as well as how to recognize a "responsible breeder."
Sadly, it has come to our attention that an alleged Eskimo breeder, or more likely an internet scammer, has stolen a tremendous amount of our original and copyrighted material and content from this website, verbatim. Caveat emptor!
As a result of this, we have implemented a new feature! We are now offering a Zoom meeting so you can get to know us before remitting your deposit. If your puppy is already born, you can meet your puppy. This Zoom meeting is in addition to the pre-adoption Zoom meeting that is already included with each adoption.
2. Is my Priority Waitlist Adoption Deposit deducted from the final and remaining Adoption Fee due on Adoption Day?
Yes.
3. Are the puppies raised at the WCAE household and not elsewhere?
Yes. Periodically, we do refer our clients to another breeder. You will be advised of this. When we do, please be advised that each breeder has their own respective policies and practices.
4. Will WCAE send me pictures and videos of my puppy (or the litter) as he or she is growing?
Yes. It is such a joy to share everything from the puppy's birth, the opening of the puppy's eyes, the nursing and bonding with the mom and the interaction with their respective siblings as they play, romp, sleep, eat and be adorably precious! We hope you will send us a few puppy pics and vids after your puppy's 'gotcha' day. We love hearing from our WCAE families about how their puppy is doing. Please check out some of our shared parent pup pics on our site.
5. Are clients allowed to visit their puppy before adoption day?
This is typically allowed with careful precautions. If there is an outbreak of parvo or anything else that puts our puppies at risk, we may not allow this depending on the situation.
6. Does WCAE do genetic testing?
Yes. We test with Embark for over 200 health variants. Our Dams have been tested. Our line is fully tested on the sire side as well. We are doing many more tests as well including extensive opthamology tests, hip and elbow testing, per the AKC recommendations. We are excited to be able to breed to elevate the breed and provide you the best canine companion possible.
7. Will WCAE share the results of the tests with clients?
Yes, simply ask and we can share with you.
8. Is there temperament testing?
Some of our line has been temperament tested and we plan to continue with this practice. All our dogs are loving, good-natured, happy, affable, playful and gentle as we always breed to the breed standard. Each pup's respective wonderful temperament combined with the vital early socialization we provide ensures a smooth transition to a loving home with a pleasant and good-natured puppy. This is what we breed for and strive for in our lines. Our feedback from our clients tells us we are getting it right.
9. What happens once my VIP Reservation Deposit is placed?
You are notified and kept apprised of every exciting step along the way. You are notified of the prenatal appointments for the dams. We can apprise you of the due date as well because our litters are carefully planned.
10. What options for transportation for your puppy is available.
We offer a White Glove Delivery Service where we hand deliver your puppy to you. Alternatively, you may arrange a flight nanny to deliver your puppy to you. Either way, you can always rest assured that you personally meet your puppy before his or her adoption day, via your pre-adoption Zoom meeting.
11. Does WCAE allow visits before securing a puppy with my VIP Reservation Deposit?
Yes, however we do assess a nominal home visit fee that will be applied to your priority waitlist deposit. We do offer a complimentary video meeting as an alternative.
12. When is adoption day?
By law, adoption day may not precede 56 days after birth. We can not make any exceptions to release them early. This is to protect the puppies. Depending on litter, our adoptions take place at minimum 9-12 weeks after birth. Please visit our Adoption Day Information.
13. Are the sires tested?
Yes, the sires are tested extensively for conditions per the recommendations by the AKC.
14. Do you provide an Adoption Agreement?
Absolutely. Each adoption includes an Adoption Agreement that protects our puppies from being placed in a puppy mill or with an irresponsible breeder. It also protects you, the owner, from unethical and/or irresponsible breeders.
15. Do you remove the front dewclaws?
No. The reason we opt out of this procedure is that dogs use their 'thumbs' as a stabilizer and tool. Their dewclaws also help them hold their toys and treats. We routinely do trim them before the adoption day to ensure puppy is properly socialized to this routine grooming procedure.
